Proofreading & Editing

Proofreading is often thought of as correcting spelling mistakes and punctuation slip-ups—and of course I'll do that too. But for me, that's only the beginning. What I enjoy most is helping writing flow effortlessly. I look for awkward phrasing, repetition, inconsistencies and places where a sentence could be clearer, stronger or simply more like you.

I don't think editing should flatten your writing or replace your voice with mine. My aim is to preserve everything that's uniquely yours while helping your ideas emerge with greater clarity, confidence and elegance. I'm always listening for rhythm as well as reading for meaning. Good writing should feel effortless, even when a great deal of thought has gone into every sentence. My job isn't simply to remove mistakes. It's to help your writing say exactly what you meant it to say.

Grammar and spelling software can be incredibly useful, but it can't always recognise tone, rhythm, humour or the subtle nuances that make writing sound genuinely human. That's where a thoughtful editor can make all the difference.

Some clients want detailed editorial feedback; others simply want the reassurance that every apostrophe, reference and full stop is exactly where it should be. Understanding the difference is just as important as spotting the mistakes themselves.
